A: AIRAssist gives authorized family members or friends the ability to video call with and remotely control the TV of an assisted living resident. The senior/resident doesn’t have to handle any remotes, buttons, or technology at all. You remotely do it for them!
A: AIRAssist was designed with simplicity in mind. If you can send an email, you can use AIRAssist.
A: Anyone can use AIRAssist. It was designed with seniors and their families in mind, particularly seniors who need extra help with technology and those in assisted living communities or memory care units.
A: AIRAssist comes ready to plug in and use, with a large-screen TV and other small peripherals needed to communicate with your television/cable provider. Each unit is custom configured for its users.
A: AIRAssist works with many major television providers and digital antennas. Contact us to ask whether AIRAssist will work with your TV provider.
A: The senior/resident needs an internet connection. Family or friends on the other end need an email address and an internet or cell phone connection. Any internet-connected device that can send an email can interface with AIRAssist . For video calls, family or friends need an Apple device with an active FaceTime account.
A: 2.5 - 3.5 megabits, during a video call.
A: Absolutely. The TV is a regular TV and can still be controlled locally, just like any television. AIRAssist simply provides the added functionality of off-site control.

A: AIRAssist is a monthly subscription and can be payed monthly, quarterly, or annually.
A: The senior/resident's AIRAssist initiates every call when authorized friends and family email a request to be added to the call schedule. AIRAssist can only call friends and family authorized by the resident.
A: To keep things wonderfully simple for the resident, a video call is always requested by family or friends, which then prompts the resident's TV to start the call.
A: Anyone on the senior/resident’s approved call list can simply send an email to rai@nlisystems.com, prompting Rai to request a video call from the resident's TV. Send the email from your authorized email address, using any internet-ready device (computer, tablet, cell phone, etc.). For video calls, family or friends will need an Apple device, to receive the FaceTime call.
A: The call ends and the TV turns off. You can email a request to turn the TV back on, if you wish.
A: Just send Rai an email (from your authorized email address) telling him to turn the volume up or down or to turn to a particular channel (examples: “Turn volume up” or “Turn to channel 55”).
A: Just send Rai an email (from your authorized email address) telling him to turn to a specific channel, on a specific day, at a specific time (example: “Turn to channel 55 Monday 1:00 PM”).
A: Use the time zone local to the resident.
A: You should receive a confirming email back from Rai every time you make a request. He's just helpful like that.
A: Make sure that your email to Rai included a time (if not, your video call should begin within seconds).
A: Make sure you sent the request from the email account you associated with AIRAssist.
A: Did you receive a response back from Rai? If no, see the next question (below).
A: Check that your email was sent from the email address you have on file with AIRAssist .
A: Check to see if Rai’s response went into your spam folder.
A: Check your Sent folder to verify that your email actually sent.
A: There could be a temporary internet issue on either end or somewhere in between.
A: The resident's camera may be covered or unplugged from the system.
A: We recommend placing AIRAssist anywhere you might sit to have a conversation. Avoid back-lighting behind the resident's chair during video calls.
